Application Checklist

  • Complete the CELAC online application form before the deadline

    • Be sure to include all required attachments listed below and at the bottom of the application form.

  • Pay $50 application fee and provide proof of payment

    • This fee is non-refundable and can be paid online by credit card, with a U.S. bank personal check, or international money order made payable to “University of New Mexico”

  • Official academic transcripts and any required translations

    • Academic transcripts from the secondary school level or above must be submitted. These are academic documents that show the courses taken and grades received. Students must have a 2.0 GPA on the U.S. scale or higher and at least one academic semester of English language demonstrated on their documents.

    • Translations are required for all languages besides Spanish.

  • Official diploma and any required translations

    • Secondary school diploma or higher is required.

    • Translations are required for all languages besides Spanish.

  • Financial guarantee

    • F-1 visa applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to study in the U.S. Please see our costs page to find the amount of funding you will need to demonstrate on official bank statements. Submitted bank statements must be current and dated within six months of the application date.

    • If bank statements are provided by anyone besides the student applicant, such as family or private sponsors, the bank account holder must submit a letter of sponsorship to verify that they will support the student.
