Application Deadlines
To be eligible for admission, you must submit your full application by the following deadlines:

Application Checklist
Please prepare all required attachments listed below:
Passport photo page
Please make sure you enter all biographical information (name, gender, birthdate) correctly as listed on your PASSPORT!
Proof of $50 application fee
There are two ways of paying the $50 non-refundable application fee:
- Pay Online by credit card (VISA or Master)
- Pay by U.S. bank personal check
*You must provide a copy of your receipt as proof of payment on your online application.
Pay NowAcademic transcripts and any required translations
Academic transcripts from the secondary school level or above must be submitted. These are academic documents that show the courses are taken and the grades received. Students must have at least one academic semester of English language demonstrated on their documents.
Translations are required for all languages besides Spanish.
Financial guarantee
F-1 visa applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to study in the U.S. Please see our program information to find the amount of funding you will need to demonstrate on bank statements. Submitted bank statements must be current and dated within six months of the application date.
If bank statements are provided by anyone besides the student applicant, such as family or private sponsors, the bank account holder must submit a letter of sponsorship to verify that they will support the student.
Please submit all documents as soon as possible so that your admission is not delayed.

Step 3
Writing Sample
Please prepare to submit a writing sample using the information below:
Choose ONE of the following topics and write an essay of approximately 150 words. The use of dictionaries is not permitted.
Describe someone in your family who is special to you and explain how and why that person is special.
Some people seem to learn a second language more easily than other people. What are the reasons for this? What are the characteristics of very good language learners?

Eligibility
To apply for the CELAC program, you must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have proof of high school attendance, transcripts, and/or diploma
Must have basic knowledge of the English language (at least one academic semester)
Tuition Remission
Tuition Remission is available to the University of New Mexico staff. The cost of the program does not include student services or cultural events.
